Kim Bernard creates interactive, kinetic sculpture using recycled materials that engage the community. She is currently building a DIY recycling machine that will turn used plastic into sculptural parts. Bernard mentors emerging artists individually, teaches workshops as a visiting artist and organizes the Rockland Sculpture Race where community members build contraptions they push, pull and pedal toward the finish line. She received her BFA from Parsons in 1987, her MFA from Mass Art in 2010 and exhibits her work nationally.
